Intel Ships 802.11g Technology For Centrino

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based chipmaker said its Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG network connection is now available, and would support the transfer of 54 million bits of data per second, on a certified, standards-based WiFi network.

The new connection is priced at $25 each, in 10,000-unit quantities, Intel said.

The chip maker is releasing the new, wireless product just a day after its executives told financial analysts its Centrino product line was a key reason its mobile processor business saw 45 percent year-over-year growth during the fourth quarter of 2003.
