MGE UPS Plans 1,100VA In 1U Format

MGE UPS Systems next month plans to start shipping new rack-mount UPS models which offer up to 1,100VA in a 1U format.

The new Pulsar Evolution UPS family from MGE, based here, will be available in 500VA, 800VA and 1,100VA versions and will include hot-swappable batteries which can be replaced from the front of the enclosure, a company spokesperson said.

The new UPSes also come with both USB and serial ports for management connectivity. This feature will aid solution providers who may not always know which type of connector clients require, the spokesperson said.

The Pulsars can be rack-mounted or sit in a pedestal and include cable locks to prevent the power cables from being accidentally unplugged.

Prices are expected to start at $349 for the 500VA model.

About 20 percent of MGE's small UPS sales go through the channel, compared with 10 percent of its large models, but the company is now working to get its units ready for shipment through Tech Data, the spokesperson said.
