Compaq CFO Says New Revenue Forecast Is Conservative

"There is upside to this guidance," Clarke told analysts at a meeting, adding that a better economy, in part, could raise revenue and drive higher profits.

Compaq earlier in the day raised its 2002 forecast to $34 billion in sales, a one percent rise on 2001, and 32 cents earnings per share.

Clarke says a rise to $34.5 billion in sales would bring earnings per share of 40 cents and $35 billion would bring earnings of 48 cents per share.
