Telecommunications is a nightmare on the consumer level; on the corporate level, it is a never-ending battle. With roots as a long-distance reseller, Zone Telecom has remade itself with ZoneCMS, a service provider solution that integrates multiple network providers using the existing infrastructure. Users can add or subtract phone lines, create calling cards or toll-free numbers seamlessly over a Web interface, all while reducing overall telecom expenses. The solution costs the customer nothing; Zone Telecom and solution providers make money on the long distance, which is aggressively priced and then tailored to the type of calling done by the customer. Solution providers get a recurring monthly commission averaging about 10 percent. ZoneCMS currently manages only voice but expects to add data, video and mobile management modules soon.
