The company said it is providing a hardware and software blueprint for building wireless devices based on BlackBerry and Java technologies. RIM also will provide professional consulting services to assist with device manufacturing, application development, and interoperability testing and certification.

As part of the new program, chip maker Analog Devices plans to provide participating companies with an integrated processor that supports both wireless communications and Java applications on a single chip, RIM executives said.
