Kevin Carlson, former CTO for the delivery services group at e-solutions provider Viant, saw a need for custom collaborative software applications. The software, however, was not something Viant wanted to develop, so Carlson launched Verteris. In June, the start-up plans to launch its first product, a collaborative knowledge processing system for the legal and insurance markets. The solution adds a complex rules-management application to existing platforms to ease and facilitate workflow processes. Verteris will begin selling and implementing the product through an in-house team. But Carlson and his crew plan to recruit solution providers to handle additional sales and integration.
