The target customer base for the solution includes Web hosters as well as service providers offering Web hosting services via a reseller channel, said Sandip Gupta, vice president of business development for Ensim, Sunnyvale, Calif.

Gupta said Ensim also currently has a relationship with Hewlett-Packard and other blade vendors, and said similar announcements are imminent.

Similarly, RLX is in talks with several other software vendors to preinstall solutions on its blade servers. RLX already preinstalls Check Point software and F5's load-balancing technology on its blade servers.

"The combination of our blade servers and Ensim's software makes an ideal solution for Web hosters because blade servers cut down on space and power consumption, and Ensim's software cuts down on administration burdens," said John Schmitz, product manager at RLX.

Server blades save space and share power supplies such as cables and cooling systems.

The cost of the solution is $1,599 per blade. The companies are also looking into a subscription-based payment model for solution providers, Gupta said.
