Domino.Doc Release Makes E-Mail Management Easier

With Domino.Doc 3.5 users can also check Microsoft Office documents into the repository without having to leave the applications, said Don Harbison, senior marketing manager for Lotus Knowledge Discovery Solutions.

"This capability is really aimed at the increased ease-of-use attribute," Harbison said. "Directly from the Outlook inbox or Lotus Notes you can simply right click and check into the library."

Various regulatory requirements and corporate accountability issues have been fueling a need for companies to bring e-mail documents under better management, Harbison said. "From the point of view of our business partners, we have seen a strong resurgence of interest in content management," he said.

Domino.Doc is IBM/Lotus' collaborative content management application, first introduced in 1997. Harbison said Lotus was not making any changes to pricing or licensing with the new release.
