3Com Offers 10 Percent Rebates To Customers, Partners

Targeted at customers with established HP and Enterasys networks, 3Com is offering end customers that switch a 10 percent rebate on the final negotiated price of their networking hardware, said Dave Smith, vice president of marketing at 3Com.

What's more, 3Com is offering an additional 10 percent rebate to the solution provider partners that land the deals. The program, dubbed Margin to Win, also applies to established Cisco customers, Smith said.

3Com also is going after Nortel's voice dominance with a program aimed at converting existing NorStar PBX customers to 3Com's NBX voice-over-IP platform.

The company is offering end customers a free card from third-party vendor Citel that allows companies to use their current Nortel phones as IP phones on the NBX system, Smith said. The card usually costs about $1,400, he said.

The networking hardware vendor plans to announce the programs to its solution providers at the company's partner conference in Atlanta Sept. 9.

Also at the partner conference, 3Com plans to host workshops and training sessions on solutions-based selling of its voice, switching and wireless gear.
