ViewSonic Taps Electronics/Gaming Execs For Board

The Walnut-based company said Bruce Stein, who has served as worldwide president and director of Mattel, the $5 billion toy and electronics company, and Luc Vanhal, president of Vivendi Universal games, will take seats as ViewSonic directors, the company said.

"As independent board members, Bruce and Luc bring a wealth of industry experience to ViewSonic that will be critical to our continued expansion into new industry sectors and international markets," said ViewSonic CEO James Chu, in a prepared statement.

The appointment of Stein and Vanhal as directors is part of a process to bring outside influences to ViewSonic, which makes LCDs, projectors, tablet PCs and other visual IT products. The recruitment effort is being conducted worldwide by search firm Korn/Ferry International, and ViewSonic expects to add more board members in the coming months, vendor executives said.
