BEA, Altova Team Up For XML Development

Beginning Monday, developers can use xmlspy 5 from Altova, Beverly, Mass., to edit XML files and set XML schema definitions in BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1, according to BEA.

Developers also can define the format of their XML data in xmlspy 5 and use it through Workshop in any application built on WebLogic Platform.

WebLogic Platform includes BEA's portal, application server and integration server products, in addition to Workshop. WebLogic Workshop 8.1, a tool that visually models applications through XML-based workflows, unifies J2EE development across all of the software in the platform.

Developers can download a free developer license of WebLogic Workshop 8.1 with a free copy of xmlspy 5 WebLogic Edition from BEA's Web site.

The free license includes a 30-day evaluation license for xmlspy 5 Enterprise Edition. After 30 days, a developer can either purchase xmlspy 5 Enterprise Edition or xmlspy 5 Professional Edition, or continue using the included WebLogic edition for free.

Through BEA's dev2dev developer program, BEA and Altova also are hosting a free Webinar Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. PST to educate developers on how to use Workshop and xmlspy 5 together.
