SeeBeyond Releases Expanded Suite To Build, Integrate Composite Applications

Together, the ICAN modules are intended to help large enterprise customers build and manage composite applications within a services-oriented architecture (SOA).

"We've been everything ourselves, and everything was built to run with everything else," said Ross Altman, chief technology of the Monrovia, Calif., company. The suite includes integration broker software, an integration server, business process management software, and a tool to build portal applications.

Altman said that customers can use SeeBeyond's product suite to build a services-oriented architecture, and the composite applications that run on top it, without waiting for the standards associated with Web services to mature. "Some people have suggested that you can use Web services to build a services oriented architecture, and everything will work. You can't, because a ton of standards haven't jelled yet," said Altman.

SeeBeyond claims its software will work on integration servers from its competitors, including those from webMethods, of Fairfax, Va., IBM, in Armonk, NY, and BEA Systems, in San Jose, Calif.

"SeeBeyond has taken integration and composite application building, and made it so it really does run on other systems," said David Plesko, Accenture partner for lead enterprise integration, in Dallas. "This goes beyond integrating applications. We think it will be uniquely attractive to our customers."
