FileNet Unveils Compliance Framework

The company on Monday introduced what it called the FileNet Compliance Framework, a platform that includes the company's Business Process Manager, Content Manager, Records Manager and eForms components.

The integrated components will be offered as a bundle, ranging in price from $150,000 to $250,000, the company said.

As part of the framework, the company also formed a Compliance Alliance that includes NetApps for storage management and BEA Systems for applications server infrastructure, and integrator Bearing Point for consulting services, to round out the offering.

The vendor is talking with other technology and solution provider partners about joining the alliance, said Chris McLaughlin, director of financial services marketing for FileNet.

He said the company's event-driven P8 content management and business process software provides a strong infrastructure on which solution providers can build solutions to meet most compliance issues a client might face.

"Other vendors are professing they have out-of-the-box solutions. They're doing that because they don't have a rich network of partners," McLaughlin said.

One FileNet partner who is considering joining the alliance, Paul DiGiammarino, president and CEO of Steelpoint, a Boston-based integrator that has focused on compliance, legal and risk management solutions for several years, said there is more to FileNet's framework than marketing.

"We've sold these products before, some as components, but the bundled offering is new. We look forward to getting out in the market with them," he said.

DiGiammarino also said FileNet's new collaboration and records management modules, as well as new features its P8 platform and templates provide with the framework, will make it easier for Steelpoint to develop its custom applications.

"One of the things I really like about the FileNet offering is it's all homegrown," he said. "It's really, really well-integrated and you can use this as an enterprise platform."

As for Steelpoint and its 120 employees, the company's audit investigation and litigation solutions business was up 100 percent last year, while its overall business was up 55 percent. "It is wonderful for us because we were in this market before it became hot," DiGiammarino said.
