Dell Computer signed an executive from a rival company, tapping former Compaq Computer services executive Jeff Lynn to head up its professional services organization.
Lynn, who held the title of vice president and general manager of Compaq's services strategy, started his new job as vice president of Dell professional services last week, a Dell spokesman said.
Lynn will report, in part, to Joseph Merengi, Dell's senior vice president of Americas.
Dell is on track to see between $2 billion and $3 billion annually in services revenue, the company said, with a long-term goal of reaching the $10 billion mark.
Merengi is a former top executive of Novell. Last year, Dell Senior Vice President Jim Vanderslice, a former top executive at IBM, retired.
