Novell Launches Portal Software, Inks Deal With SAP

Novell

The company, based here, announced this week the availability of Novell Portal Services 1.5 and the integration of its eDirectory with SAP's Enterprise Portal.

Novell Portal Services 1.5, available now for $59 per user or $49,999 per CPU, allows end users to customize portal interfaces to their preferred look, find information via the AltaVista search engine, and set up online communities for sharing information across organizational boundaries, company executives said.

Version 1.5, which integrates with other portal solutions including Yahoo portal builder, makes it easier to distribute and secure portal administration and leverages the power of eDirectory to customize a portal's content based on department, security level or location, Novell executives said.

Novell also announced this week a partnership with SAP to bundle its eDirectory with SAP's Enterprise Portal. The LDAP-based user identity and management solution will give enhanced security to SAP's enterprise portal solution, company executives said. The eDirectory is now bundled with SAP's portal.
