Polycom Unveils Unified Conferencing System

Polycom

The VoicePlus multipoint conferencing system can act as a stand-alone audio bridge for voice conferencing, but also integrates with Polycom's MGC video conferencing and WebOffice online collaboration products, giving users the ability to upgrade the system as their needs change, said Jim Thomas, senior product marketing manager at Polycom, Milpitas.

VoicePlus supports traditional and IP-based phones as well as IP and ISDN video devices, Thomas said.

"The end user can concentrate on the meeting, not on the technology," Thomas said.

The VoicePlus product should create additional sales opportunities to clients already using Polycom's videoconferencing solutions, said Eric Maas, director of network services at Wire One Technologies, Hillside, N.J.

"The price points are wonderful for it because you're plugging into existing equipment," Maas said.

VoicePlus enables unattended, reserved, ad-hoc and attended conference calls. It also provides conference security features such as passwords, entry and exit tones and Web-based viewing of conference attendees.

It also includes a customizable interactive voice response system for conference automation.

Prices range from about $900 to $1,500 per port, depending on volume.
