Changepoint, a developer of software that helps consulting firms manage billing, said Monday it has an agreement to roll out its software to 6,000 of Microsoft's consulting and support professionals.

Changepoint officials valued the deal at $5.7 million.

Changepoint's professional services automation (PSA) application will be rolled out to Microsoft's Worldwide Services organization, formerly known as Microsoft Consulting Services, and be integrated with Microsoft's own Project 2002 application, Changepoint said. It will tie into Microsoft's back-end Siebel CRM and SAP ERP implementations.

PSA software helps consultants create, calculate, track and send invoices. The Microsoft deployment, which will be rolled out by Changepoint and Microsoft personnel, is slated to be finished early next year.

"Changepoint, tightly integrated with Microsoft Project 2002, will provide the best professional services automation solution," said Gerry Smith, president and CEO of Changepoint, Toronto.

Changepoint, which started out as a provider of Domino-based collaborative applications, has evolved into a PSA software provider. The company has also rolled out its PSA software to NCR, Dayton, Ohio, and Ciber, a Denver-based solution provider, Smith said.
