Synnex Information Technologies is expanding its distribution operations into Mexico.

Synnex Tuesday said it has acquired sales and distribution operations from Novitech, a Mexico City-based distributor, as well as branch locations in Guadalajara, Puebla, Veracruz, Queretaro, and Monterrey.

The subsidiary, called Synnex de Mexico, began distribution operations May 1.

"Entry into Mexico marks a significant opportunity for Synnex to further execute on our strategy to expand globally," said Bob Huang, president and CEO of Synnex. "Combining a superior staff of employees and strong leadership with Synnex's products, programs and wide array of services offerings allows us to service the Mexico reseller base with great efficiency and velocity, and positions us to become the leading distributor of IT products in the Mexico region very quickly. We look forward to building strong customer partnerships and growing market share in the Mexico region."

On Monday, Fremont-based Synnex said it had agreed to purchase Gates/Arrow the broadline distribution arm of Arrow Electronics.
