We have reached the top of the hill in terms of this month's projects. CRN's 20th Anniversary Issue and the VARBusiness 500 are online; yesterday's Netseminar on Wireless applications went off without a hitch; the hard work is done on CRN's Salary Survey issue and it's web salary databases and calculators for Monday; the upgrade to the CRN Monthly Solution Provider poll database is live; and our coverage of next week's PC Expo/TECHXNY represents the final big project in this hectic month.

Intel announced it was closing the doors on its Online Services division; EDS is purchasing LoudCloud's MSP business; the company likely would not have survived on its own. Joseph Nacchio is out as CEO of Qwest; it's board named Richard Notebaert as his successor.

Java? Just A Small Cup

Microsoft, it turns out, will include the Java Virtual machine in it's Windows XP service pack due out this summer, but says it will cease Java support entirely by the beginning of 2004. Meanwhile, the company's antitrust case has once again gone to a judge -- U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly will have to decide whether to accept the company's settlement with the US Department of Justice, or grant further penalties against the company, as requested by nine state's attorney's general.

Meet Me In Manhattan

Next week, PC Expo, Mobile Connections, DV Expo, Web Services, Java and XML Edge, and the Small Business Summit come together under the umbrella of TECHXNY at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. CRN and VARBusiness editors will be bringing you ongoing coverage of all the news and announcements, all of which will be available in our News Center.

If you're attending, be sure to catch CRN editor Heather Clancy and VARBusiness editor David Strom, hosting "20 Year Milestone: Integrating Business and IT Yesterday - and Tomorrow." The name may be a handful, but Heather and David will be bringing together experts on the changing nature of technology and business, with an eye to the opportunities ahead. This keynote takes place Tuesday at 11:00 am. Also watch out also for news from the VARBusiness 500 awards Tuesday night, where some of the top solution provider CEOs will discuss where their businesses are heading.
