The product helps busy administrators monitor a plethora of events and performance issues inherent in any enterprise-class network. VisualProfile is built around a GUI-based console that can employ as many as 80 collection modules. The collection modules are responsible for gathering realtime activity from a number of networking components, ranging from routers to desktop systems to Web servers.

Visualware's included DeskTopProfile agent adds real value to the package. Deploying the DeskTopProfile agent to networked PCs allows administrators to gather performance and operational events from all PCs in a monitored environment. That simplifies management and troubleshooting, while allowing administrators to visually demonstrate network-load and -performance concerns to management.

Initial setup of the product is further eased by the methodology behind the collection modules. Unlike competing products, VisualProfile does not require monitoring software to be installed on every networking device. The collection modules are designed to query and monitor networking components remotely, eliminating the need to modify sensitive networking equipment, such as firewalls and routers. An added benefit to that style of implementation is that installation and configuration of the product is simplified.

VisualProfile's management console is built around two primary concepts: setup and reporting. Users will find both avenues easy to navigate. The setup portion allows administrators to define what is monitored and when it is monitored. Once the setup is tuned for the subject network, administrators will rely on the reporting section to keep them informed of the critical details on their networks.
