D-Link Upgrades Dual-Mode Access Point

The new access point provides higher throughput while still remaining compatible with all current 802.11 products, the company said.

"The addition of the 802.11b++11/22Mbps T1-based dual-band access point gives users greater advantage over other dual-band APs that only support standard 11-Mbps 802.11b products," said Steve Joe, president of D-Link, in a statement. "Now users get higher throughput, extended roaming capabilities, increased bandwidth and greater range at the lowest price in the industry."

The access point, called AirPro, provides a performance enhancement of up to 20 percent within the 802.11b 11-Mbps standard, said D-Link executives.
