Dell's Reseller Agreement: Read the Fine Print
Take a look at the attached PDF
- For Dell branded products, VAR agrees to sell to end users disclosed to Dell (meaning you have to tell them your customers' names)
- VAR is responsible for all Web-based orders that are generated using that reseller's code/PIN number.
- If you don't want to use Dell's preferred shipper, you are responsible for any loss or damage during shipping
- Dell's satisfaction policy doesn't apply for VAR sales of both Dell branded and SPD products
- All payment is net 30 days
- Dell will do any warranty repairs on Dell branded products but only after the VAR has transferred title to Dell for the machine
- Neither party can give out info about the agreement, including its existence, to the public (good thing I didn't sign it yet)
- vVAR agrees that Dell doesn't endorse its business practices or any other endorsement of the VAR
- VAR agrees to maintain a million dollar comprehensive insurance policy with a grade A carrier
- VAR needs to have at least one tech certified by Dell in one of Dell's new SPD courses
- VAR is required to use replacement components sourced from Dell
- If your parts return rate exceeds a certain threshold on parts that Dell can't duplicate the problem on, you will pay for the cost of these parts, including handling and shipping fees
- VAR will be responsible for any engineering updates, and to flash a current BIOS version, on all SPD machines.
