IBM Introduces WebSphere Application Server for Telecom Solution Providers

WTAS is based on open standards defined by The Parlay Group, a non-profit organization that develops open networking and communications standards. The standards are being developed to deliver applications and technologies across multiple networks.

WTAS is a piece of IBM's new Service Provider Delivery Environment framework, which is built on IBM's WebSphere platform as well as on products from IBM's hardware and software partners. The framework targets wireline and wireless carriers.

Telecom service providers have the ability to develop on the framework in the IBM Developer Center for Telecom.

ISVs also have access to the center, San Mateo, Calif., to test applications on WebSphere products and Parlay standards.
