Opsware Posts A Profit

Opsware reported net income of $49.1 million, or 67 cents per share, as a result of the sale. The company recorded a loss of $40.7 million this time last year.

Revenue for the quarter was $2.6 million, compared with revenue of $14.3 million for the year-ago quarter.

The company ended the quarter with $84 million in cash resources in addition to eliminating long-term debt.

In June of this year, Opsware opted to sell Loudcloud, its managed services business, to EDS in a bid to focus only on selling software.

Since then, the company has extended its IT automation software with a disaster-recovery module that synchronizes the Opsware automation platform across multiple data centers.

Last month, Opsware introduced Blade Edition, which installs, configures and manages applications and operating systems residing on blade servers.
