Former .Net Exec Joins IBM Software

Jason Weisser has joined IBM Software Group as director of software services for Web services, IBM officials said Wednesday. Weisser previously served as the head of Microsoft Consulting Services in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, specializing in services based on the software giant's .Net Web services platform.

Weisser will lead IBM's plan to support open standards in its software, such as WebSphere and Domino, and deliver infrastructure for Web services to provide e-business on demand, a recent initiative launched by the company.

In his new role, Weisser will be based in Paris but consult with IBM partners and customers worldwide, according to IBM. He also will work closely with other IBM software executives who focus on Web services, including John Soyring, vice president of IBM Software services and support; Robert Sutor, director of Web services technology; and Allistair Rennie, director of Web services marketing and On Demand initiatives.
