Sun To Outsource Training to Accenture

Accenture, New York, will offer instructor-led training on a broad portfolio of Sun technologies in locations throughout the United States and Europe through its Accenture Learning business, a Sun spokesperson said.

Technologies included in the training will be Java and Sun's Solaris operating system, as well as classes for partners and customers on other products Sun offers.

Sun will continue to provide classes in 11 education centers throughout the United States, but it will mainly be training for Sun employees and only the most advanced customer and partner training, according to Sun.

Sun's educational services fall under its Sun Services division, led by Executive Vice President Patricia Sueltz.

Outsourcing training to Accenture is part of Sun Services' strategy to work more closely with its partners, something Sueltz has told CRN is a priority for the group.

Observers said the deal also could be a cost-cutting move for Sun, which has implemented measures to streamline its business to save money in the past two years.
