Linksys Ships VPN Broadband Router For Small Biz

The 802.11g WRV54G, with a street price of $229, is a complementary solution that follows the recent launch of Linksys' USB VPN Firewall Adapter (USBVPN1).

The Wireless-G VPN Broadband Router is geared toward very small business environments with mobile employees. It features a 802.11g access point, a built-in router for attached devices to share a single high-speed Internet connection, a VPN function allowing up to 50 remote or traveling users, business-class firewall protection with stateful packet inspection (SPI), and a four-port 10/100 switch for connecting wired Ethernet devices, according to Linksys, a Irvine, Calif.-based division of Cisco Systems.

The new router also features the Intel IXP425 network processor, capable of handling more data movement over the network and up to 50 secure VPN tunnels, as well as 128-bit WEP encryption and 802.11x authorization and authentication functions, according to the company.
