Salesforce.com Goes Mobile With Nextel

The San Francisco-based company, which is credited with legitimizing the software-as-a-service model, said Wednesday that it has teamed up with Nextel Communications. Under the partnership, Salesforce.com customers can use their BlackBerry handheld devices to retrieve and update account, contact and lead information, as well as view reports.

The new Salesforce.com Wireless Edition supports natural-language querying, making it easier to issue queries over the mobile device.

Under the agreement, Nextel customers using either the BlackBerry 6510 or BlackBerry 7510 will have direct access to Salesforce.com's CRM service.
