CA Makes Desktop DNA Its Own

The acquisition comes just nine months after CA integrated Miramar's flagship desktop PC management product - Desktop DNA - into its Unicenter, BrightStor and eTrust software products, said Allan Andersen, the director of product marketing for the Unicenter brand at CA, Islandia, N.Y.

Desktop DNA technology centrally manages the transfer, upgrade or replacement of a PC's or laptop's configuration when it comes to application settings, network and printer settings, data files and folders, e-mail address books and other settings, Andersen said.

Desktop DNA has been the go-to enterprise desktop management solution for CA for a number of years, Andersen said. Now, CA customers and channel partners will benefit from Desktop DNA's value-add without having to use a third-party software product, he said. The CA brand will replace the Miramar label, Andersen added.

Miramar was founded in 1989 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
