ScanSource Buys Videoconferencing Distributor T2 Supply

T2 is the largest volume distributor for Polycom and also carries Plantronics products, according to ScanSource, Greenville, S.C. Jill Phillips, T2's vice president of operations, will become president of T2 Supply as a wholly owned subsidiary of ScanSource, according to the distributor. Tod Vedock will remain vice president of sales at T2.

The acquisition helps ScanSource fill out its long-term convergence strategy, according to Mike Baur, ScanSource's president and CEO.

"The addition of T2's customer base of voice and videoconferencing resellers should provide many cross-selling opportunities, and their products will complement the offerings of our other communication sales units--Catalyst [Telecom] and Paracon," Baur said in a statement.

The transaction was completed July 3 as a purchase of assets for cash. T2 has 36 employees; acquisition and additional interest expenses from the purchase will cost ScanSource about 2 cents per share for the September quarter.
