Tech Data has promoted Barb Miller from director to vice president of the distributor's government and technical and integration services groups.
In the executive role, Miller will continue to lead the Tech Data TechEDG program, which focuses on the public-sector markets. She will lead teams of technical and government services experts, as well as oversee the TDEducation reseller training and certification programs, TDOnCall technical services suite, product integration and configuration support, and TeleSMART telemarketing services for the reseller community.
Under Miller's leadership, Tech Data grew its government and education business 11 percent last year. About 3,000 resellers participate in the TechEDG program, with nearly 45 percent focusing on education, 29 percent federal, and 26 percent state and local government. The annual conference devoted to the segment drew more than 200 attendees in April.
Prior to joining Tech Data in 1998, Miller spent 15 years at Hayes Microcomputer Products, where she was responsible for global technical support, customer service, Web design, test engineering, warranty repair and training. Last month, she was named to VARBusiness's inaugural 50 Most Powerful Women of the Channel list, which honors female executives who epitomize success in the IT channel.
