Business Objects Hires BEA Marketing Chief

Reporting directly to Business Objects CEO John Schwarz, Breya will take charge of managing Business Objects' business product lines and its overall marketing strategy.

Breya's appointment comes as Business Objects, based in Paris and San Jose, Calif., is working to expand its leadership in the business intelligence market to a broader footprint as a top-tier software vendor. Lately, the company has been building out its software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings, buying SaaS platform maker Nsite and launching a hosted CrystalReports.com service.

At BEA, Breya orchestrated the company's AquaLogic launch and "Think Liquid" campaign around its service-oriented architecture (SOA) strategy.

She also was a prominent critic of JBoss' attempt to sell itself to Oracle. She said BEA passed on a similar deal because JBoss was too pricey. (Red Hat ended up buying JBoss.)
