With energy conservation in mind, Spectra Logic has announced an eight-frame library to improve efficiency and increase the amount of information that can be stored in the data center.
Using an average of 65 percent less energy than standard libraries, the Spectra T950 can store up to 16.08 petabytes of data compressed, with partitioning capabilities and the ability to integrate combinations of tape, VTL and encryption. The encryption key management suite operates within the library through a standard graphical interface. The library requires an average of 85 percent less time to administer, provides 58 percent space savings and more than 50 percent greater capacity to scale.
The T950 can be configured with up to 10,050 slots, 120 LTO, SDLT and SAIT tape drives, and up to 110 RXT drives. It offers a native throughput of 14,400 MBps using LTO-4 drives. Pricing starts at $240,250, with generally availability expected for the second quarter of 2007.
