Ingram Takes Down Ordering Web Site

Resellers looking to place orders with Ingram Micro, the world's largest technology distributor, had technical difficulties as the company had shut down its online ordering systems from about 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday. <P> Customers coming to Ingram's site to order products were informed on the site that the ordering system was not online and that they could still place orders via the phone. <P> "It was a precautionary move and a communication was noted on the site," said a spokeswoman for the Santa Ana, Cali.-based distributor, although the spokeswoman did not know what the IT staff was avoiding by taking the site offline. <P>
