Best Buy has launched an online storage service for customers to upload and access video files.

Best Buy Video Sharing starts at $6.97 for 100 minutes of video hosting, with a maximum of 30 minutes per video. Premium plans for extended lengths, additional storage capacity and other sharing features, are also available, according to the Minneapolis, Minn.-based company.

The service allows users to choose who can view their content in an ad-free envrionment, according to the company. Best Buy Video Sharing was created through a partnership with Mydeo, a Wimbledon, U.K.-based streaming video host provider. As part of the deal, Best Buy has acquired a minority equity stake in Mydeo.

The growing popularity of online video and social networking sites such as MySpace has increased demand for video sharing solutions, according to said Kevin Winneroski, vice president of Best Buy.

"Many customers don't want their personal memories available for anyone to see in the public domain nor do they want to share them in a cluttered environment that includes advertising," Winneroski said in a statement. "Through Best Buy Video Sharing, customers can safely store their videos and share them only with the friends and family they choose."

The video sharing service complements Best Buy's existing digital music store and Best Buy Photo Center, launched last May in partnership with Kodak.
