A long-time Avnet insider is set to replace John Paget as global president of Avnet Technology Solutions, effective March 2, according to the Phoenix-based distributor.
Paget, a longtime distribution executive, had joined Avnet in February 2007. Phillip Gallagher, a 26-year veteran with Avnet and currently president of Avnet Electronics Marketing, Americas, will take on Paget's role.
Paget is stepping down effective immediately but will assist Avnet through a transition period, according to the company. Avnet executives were not available for immediate comment Monday.
"We thank John for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors," said Rick Hamada, Avnet COO, in a statement. "I am firmly convinced that Phil's leadership skills, coupled with his experience and strong Avnet foundation, adds up to an excellent choice for the global leader for Avnet Technology Solutions."
Gallagher received Avnet's Chairman's Award in 2001 and was named a corporate officer in November 1997.
"I am honored by this new role and have the deepest respect for what the Technology Solutions team has already achieved," Gallagher said in a statement. "I believe there is significant opportunity in every region, and I look forward to challenging myself and the team to take our performance to even higher levels as we move forward."
