Sirius Computer Solutions Acquires Denver Solutions Group

San Antonio, Texas-based Sirius acquired nearly all of DSG's assets; terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition bolsters Sirius' eServer product line by adding the strong zSeries mainframe practice of DSG and is projected to give Sirius revenuesof more than $550 million for 2004.

"This acquisition fulfills the most important part of Sirius' business growth strategy -- to offer our customers the entire IBM server line," Harvey Najim, president and CEO of Sirius, said in a press statement. "The industry trends of server consolidation and on-demand computing relies on powerful and reliable servers, and in many cases the IBM eServer zSeries is the clear choice."

Denver-based DSG, which has $190 million in annual sales and 150 employees, will operate as the Sirius Enterprise Systems Group and will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Sirius. Tom Engleby, president and CEO of DSG, will assume the role of president of Sirius Enterprise Systems Group. The addition of DSG gives Sirius a total of 60 locations in the United States, along with 280 certified sales and technical professionals and more than 750 IBM certifications.

Sirius, which has posted strong annual growth in recent years despite a tough economy, was named as the Top pSeries Revenue Producer for 2003 by IBM, and also earned numerous other merits from Big Blue this year, including a Beacon Award for best IBM iSeries On Demand solution. For its part, DSG has also received several accolades from IBM and has posted impressive double-digit revenue increases in recent years.
