Channel Veteran Bazzone To Retire From Tech Data

Bazzone spent 12 years at the Clearwater, Fla.-based distributor and 25 years in the channel. She said she now wants to golf.

"My husband has been retired for a number of years, I have two grandbabies, my golf game needs improving and we have a beach house that is not used nearly enough. It's time," Bazzone said.

Bazzone said she gave her notice Monday but plans to stay on through Tech Data's fiscal second quarter, which ends July 30.

"I've been part of an exciting team. We had a great Q1, and the organization has a great staff. It just seems like the right time to look at some personal objectives," she said. "The organization is in really good shape right now, and I can go ahead and fulfill my personal plans."

Tech Data's executive teams knew that Bazzone planned to retire soon and were waiting for a retirement date, she said.

"Terry has been quite open about her pending retirement, and we appreciate the extra time and effort she has afforded the company when we needed her the most," Ken Lamneck, president of the Americas at Tech Data, said in an e-mail to company employees.

"I don't think you'll see her appear as a senior VP of a technology company anytime soon. I think she has done well working for us over the years," said Steve Raymund, Tech Data's chairman and CEO. "She's a grandmother twice over, so she's looking forward to slowing down and smelling the roses a little bit."

Bazzone said she plans to attend next month's TechSelect meeting in Chicago to say farewell to a number of Tech Data associates and solution providers. "I always wanted to leave on a high note. The team has transformed TechSelect to a better business program, and that program has been one of the pleasures to work with," she said.

Over the next couple of months, Tech Data plans to interview external and internal candidates for her replacement, Bazzone said.
