D&H To Carry Sony's Vaio

"We saw two aspects of D&H's business that interested us: their strength in the higher-education vertical market, specifically with college bookstores, and also with the base of loyal resellers that is different from resellers [that] purchase from other major distributors," said John Gawa, senior manager of business development for Sony's IT products division, San Diego.

Solution providers that already buy Sony cameras or other products from D&H can now use the Vaio notebooks as a hub for the peripherals, said Dan Schwab, vice president of marketing at D&H, Harrisburg, Pa. "Sony has done a good job at retail and corporate, but their functionality, style and price feature is great [for] the small-business environment and with solution providers selling mobile technology into that space," Schwab said.

Salem Computer Center, a Salem, Ohio-based solution provider, plans to start selling Sony Vaios now that D&H, its primary distributor, is carrying the line. "A lot of our customers ask for them. They have name recognition," said Frank Zamarelli, owner of Salem Computer Center. "We're excited we'll be able to sell them now."

D&H will carry Vaio notebooks ranging from an entry-level model to a high-end model with a 17-inch screen.
