GreenPages Technology Solutions, No. 282 on Everything Channel's 2009 VAR500 list, stepped up its managed services and virtualized data center march by acquiring the VAR division of Boston-based Managed Technology Partners (MTP). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kittery, Maine-based GreenPages, one of the top VMware partners in the country, said the deal adds 40 top engineers, as well as a comprehensive suite of managed services offerings that include network, server and security management.

What's more it doubles GreenPages' managed and professional services revenues and adds several hundred customer accounts, said GreenPages CEO Ron Dupler. "This gives us a platform to innovate and drive managed services," he said.

Dupler said GreenPages had already been working with MTP on account engagements. The new employees will remain at MTP's Boston facility and MTP President Drew Lally will join GreenPages as president.

Among MTP's professional services certifications are a specialty in Cisco Unified Communications including a number of Cisco CCIEs and CCNPs. MTP also brings HP Master ASEs and Microsoft MCSEs to GreenPages.

MTP is retaining its national IT services channel division that provides VARs, retailers, manufacturers, solution providers and software vendors with packaged on-site and 24x7 remotely managed IT services.

GreenPages has been driving hard and fast into strategic consulting and services and is at the forefront of the move to deliver solutions based on the private cloud alliance formed by VMware, Cisco and EMC.

Dupler said he is optimistic about GreenPages position over the next several years to help customers move to the cloud with a utility computing model.

"We are very excited moving into 2010," he said. "The transformation to cloud computing is as important and disruptive as the move from mainframe to client server. Over the next three to five years, clients are looking for a strategic advisor that can really guide them through this transformational period."
