World Wide Technology (VAR500 rank: 52) Friday said it has acquired Performance Technology Group (PTG), creating a solution provider with revenue of nearly $3 billion.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. PTG specializes in systems engineering and managed services for federal, state and commercial clients in the Mid-Atlantic region. The acquisition provides WWT with additional expertise in managed IT services and a network operations center, as well as an increased geography.

PTG's SAS 70 Type II data center and 24x7x365 staffed NOC offers customers co-location, network monitoring and fully managed services, with either hosted or remote options. Like WWT, PTG provides strategic IT consulting, virtualization planning and implementation, and technology disaster recovery planning and hosted solutions.

The newly combined entity will employ more than 1,200 workers and approach $3 billion in revenue and products from more than 3,000 manufacturers. It has more than 1.5 million square feet of warehousing distribution and integration space in 20 facilities worldwide, including a state-of-the-art Integration Technology Center with capacity to configure more than 30,000 systems per week. According to WWT, no layoffs are planned and it will continue to operate its 30,000-square-foot facility in Baltimore.
