Accenture's $200 million deal with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide means the solution provider will provide the hotel chain with a number of information technology outsourcing services through U.S.-based teams in its Global Delivery Network.

The integrated IT solution from Accenture (2009 VAR500 rank: 3) will comprise end-to-end application and infrastructure management for Starwood. Application outsourcing services include development, testing, maintenance and running of the applications. Infrastructure outsourcing services include server and storage management, data center management, end-user computing, network management and service desk management.

The services will allow Starwood to improve the overall productivity of its IT operations. In addition, the arrangement will help Starwood concentrate on driving new innovations into the marketplace, which will allow it to compete more effectively.

"Accenture is delighted to have a vital role in the IT transformation at Starwood," said Umar Riaz, a senior executive in Accenture's Products practice, in a statement. "By combining our experience in providing application and infrastructure outsourcing services, along with our deep knowledge of the hospitality industry, we are able to deliver consistent, cost-effective and innovative IT solutions to Starwood as they seek to further drive a platform for profitable growth."
