Former Michigan CIO Joins VAR Dewpoint

Theis, who joined Dewpoint as COO on October 1, will help the company strengthen its consulting, technology, and service offerings, said Andy Kotarba, president and CEO of the Lansing, Mich.-based solution provider and member of the VAR500 list of largest solution providers.

Theis and Dewpoint have known each other for a long time through the work that Dewpoint did with Michigan government agencies, Kotarba said. "We did a lot of work with the state," he said. "Theis saw great potential with us."

Theis spent 10 years with working with the State of Michigan's IT department. He stepped up into the CIO role for the state in 2007, and most recently also held the title of director of the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget after spearheading the move to consolidate the Department of Information Technology and the Department of Management and Budget into a single organization.

Prior to 2000, Theis spent over 10 years at General Motors, and left that company in 2000 as program director for information system and services.
