Microsoft To Open 75 New Retail Stores: COO Turner

Currently the company has 11 stores in the U.S. Microsoft also plans to begin opening stores outside of the U.S. as well, Turner said.

Turner said the move would help Microsoft better understand consumer trends. The company must "transition from thinking about our customers to thinking like our customers," he said.

The renew emphasis on consumer sales follows Microsoft's creation in April of a new Consumer Channels Group headed by Chris Capossela, who reports to Turner.
