FileNet this week said its FileNet P8 3.0 platform now offers Web services-based access to its flagship enterprise content management (ECM) product.

FileNet's XML Web Services product is designed to provide rich content and business process management functionality for ECM applications. It supports publishing of WSDL descriptions and support for Web services operations from a variety of clients, including both J2EE and Microsoft .Net.

Additionally, FileNet's business process management (BPM) capabilities now have process orchestration functionality, providing integration between applications and helping to leverage existing software investments within a service-oriented architecture (SOA).

The solution makes it easier to integrate content and process management capabilities into business applications, according to FileNet. This will streamline development time and reduce overall costs. In additional, the Web-services-enabled offering makes ECM functionality more generally availability across an enterprise and through wireless and other mobile devices.

FileNet's XML Web Services product, available immediately, fully conforms to Basic Profile 1.0 guidelines as established by the Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I).
