Ken Bast, a 15-year veteran of Ingram Micro and most recently head of its advanced technology practice, has left the distributor for a Southern California-based cloud service management startup, FireScope.
Bast confirmed his move in an email to CRN. An Ingram spokesperson also confirmed Bast's exit and that his replacement is Jay Miley, most recently managing director of Ingram Micro Australia. Miley, a U.S. native, will be returning home in December to take over Bast's role officially at the start of the new year.
Bast spent a decade and a half at Ingram Micro and, among other highlights, played a key role developing and overseeing the distributor's sprawling Cisco relationship. Since 2010, he was vice president and general manager, Advanced Technology Division, where he drove strategic partnerships with many of Ingram's major networking, data center and infrastructure players, including F5 Networks, Symantec, ShoreTel and Juniper.

FireScope, which was founded in 2006 and is based in Huntington Beach, Calif., makes open-source-based business service management software that monitors, diagnoses and offers business intelligence for enterprise IT assets. Bast's title at FireScope is senior vice president, global field operations and channels.
Miley is also a 15-year-plus Ingram veteran. Though originally U.S.-based, including as vice president of vendor business management, Miley moved to New Zealand in 2007 to become managing director of Ingram's New Zealand business, and then moved on to Sydney in 2008 to take over the Australia business.
CRN affiliate publication CRN Australia reported that Matt Sanderson, currently Ingram's U.K. managing director and a former head of sales and volume in Australia, will succeed Miley in the Australia business.
