Kaseya has unveiled a new suite of software tools for its enterprise IT system management platform aimed at delivering consolidated network discovery, enhanced policy management and customizable reporting to support compliance and similar business functions.
The Swiss-based company also claims that the enhancements will help to ease the administrative burdens associated with the process of on-boarding new services, and it extends the same features and functionality across separate product versions to support SaaS-based environments and on-premises environments.
"As of this release, there are no differences between the two versions," said Gerald Beaulieu, director of product marketing at Kaseya. "We now have full parity, and all SaaS customers will be on the new platform before the end of January. It's also easy to install and configure, and can be managed from a single pane of glass."

Beaulieu added that Version 6.3 of the product also includes updated capabilities to support network discovery and report customization.
"The automated discovery capability can discover both internal and remote networks with up to 25,000 assets," he said. "We've also done a lot of work to further support access to information and report customization, in order to put more of the most useful data at [users'] fingertips."
Beaulieu views customization as a key differentiator.
"The product needs to be tailored based on the services that are being provided to the customers," he said. "Full customization is a major aspect of our product planning. It has to be very easy to use and function through drag-and-drop whenever possible."
Policies can be developed based on the nature of the specific devices, hardware profile, maintenance routines, system monitoring practices and operating systems in use. OS support now includes Windows 8, Apple OS X Mountain Lion and iOS 6 operating systems.
Different overrides can be set at either the group level or the individual level in order to provide more granular control.
"They've made a lot of back-end changes, and the user interface is a lot quicker and a lot more stable," noted Scott Brown, president of TimbukTech, a Peoria, Ill.-based MSP. "And clearly they've made the extra effort of listening to feedback from beta testers and have come out with a much stronger product because of that."
Meanwhile, Kaseya has also announced that its Virtual System Administrator (VSA) has achieved a level 1 validation for Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2. The certification is essentially a stamp of approval involving cryptographic modules and is a necessary prerequisite for contracts with the federal government and a number of other agencies. It is currently under review as a potential ISO standard.
