N-Able Hits XChange With MSP Software Upgrade

The upgrade, formally dubbed N-central 3.6, incorporates a host of new security- and compliance-oriented features, and will be available to channel partners next month.

Mark Scott, the company's president and CEO, said the newest iteration puts the notions of active and aggressive management back into a managed services industry that had become, in his mind, too passive.

"IT services is a very competitive business and managed services has become somewhat of a generic term," he said. "To be both effective and profitable, an MSP must be able to support multiple client networks in a proactive manner with the proper tools and process."

According to Scott, some of the new features in N-central 3.6 include: event correlation, scheduled reporting, service engines for SNMP and Syslog, Windows Management Instrumentation support, and an executive summary report package, designed to enable solution providers to help customers grapple with modern-day issues of corporate governance.

The upgrade also incorporates a new tool from N-Able, the Security Event Manager 1.5, a tool that leverages a distributed data collection system to pull together security-related events and information from currently deployed applications.

The event manager module also correlates, notifies and reports on events, allowing solution providers to react to threats and further assist customers with compliance to certain reporting regulations.

Pricing for the software upgrade, or for the new Security Event Manager module, was not immediately available.

N-Able, though based in Ottowa, Ontario, sells to more than 300 solution providers in the U.S.
