CSC Leverages HP Technology With Applications Testing-as-a-Service Platform Launch

CSC said Thursday it's using HP technology to deliver a new Testing-as-a-Service (TaaS) platform in the cloud.

CSC said the new platform leverages HP’s high quality management and testing software through a "pay as you go," on-demand consumption basis.

"Pay as you go is a growing trend among users. This delivers a cost saving to the customers as CSC will invoice them on consumption-based pricing models," Sunil Kumar Tuli, global head of CSC’s independent testing and enterprise application services offerings, told CRN. "Testing requirements vary according to the demand and customers do not have staff for peak [periods] and have the cost on the books for excess time during normal or low demand periods. We can ramp up and down according to the customer demands and they can allocate these saved costs to high 'return on investment' project work."

CSC said demand for effective applications testing and lifecycle management continues to grow rapidly as businesses move quickly to deliver applications and experiences that leverage the cloud, big data and mobility. Organizations place a premium on speed and agility, requiring an approach that allows them to spin up development projects when needed.

The TaaS platform complements CSC's application for security testing on-demand, released earlier this year, according to CSC. Tuli said customers continue to be excited about that tool.

"At CSC, we have a cybersecurity group with experts who, among other things, continuously monitor threats and solutions," he said.

The company will use HP solutions, including the company’s application lifecycle management and unified functional testing tools for TaaS.

Manish Tomar, CSC vice president and general manager for applications managed services, said the VAR and HP will provide next-generation software testing services through their partnership.

"CSC's innovative platform certifies client work product on the latest systems, while helping customers to reduce usage-based expenses, improve application quality, speed time to market and engage higher user adoption," he said.
"It's not enough for agile application teams to deliver new applications quickly -- they have to work, perform and delight users on a dizzying array of devices and platforms," said Raffi Margaliot, HP vice president and general manager for application delivery management and software, in a press release. "By teaming with CSC, we will provide developers with a flexible, on-demand platform that will allow them to deliver applications fast and with confidence."

Tuli said, from his perspective, outsourced services will continue to grow.

"The key to outsourced services is trust in your service provider," he said, "and for the service provider to have the ability and reliability to deliver services at competitive rates. At CSC, we are implementing the 'as a Service' enterprise model (to adhere to) our customers' application landscape."
