SPS Broadens Portfolio With Acquisition Of ExtraTeam

Strategic Products and Services (SPS) said Wednesday it has acquired Pleasanton, Calif.-based solution provider ExtraTeam.

"We brought the companies together since both have a customer-centric approach," said Thomas M. Praschak, COO of SPS. "Culturally, it’s an ideal match. Both companies believe in keeping the client at the center, focusing on associate development and really wanting to solve client business needs, so it was a good cultural fit."

ExtraTeam offers expertise across a wide range of technologies, including networking and data centers, unified communications, collaboration, video, cloud and managed services and more. SPS views the two companies as sharing similarities in terms of expertise as well as partnerships.

Praschak notes that the two companies are well respected in the industry and by their partners, including Avaya, Cisco, Microsoft and Polycom, among others, making it a good fit to bring both together from a partner perspective, and bolstering SPS’ capabilities in the collaboration space.

"As a company, SPS is growth-oriented, so the expectation is to be better together in order to achieve our growth aspirations," Praschak said. "As a services company, we absolutely know it’s about the people in the company, so we're providing opportunities for people to develop into even greater roles and more technical capabilities to solve client needs. This acquisition is complementary for us and will help us continue on our path as a unified communications systems integrator and managed services provider."

Praschak said that because of this acquisition, SPS will be able to grow its client base and broaden its capabilities with existing clients. As for ExtraTeam, it will prosper from the larger go-to-market strategy and geographical reach that SPS brings.

"Both companies are very excited," said Praschak. "We view this as an opportunity to come together and provide value in the marketplace. We are focused on growth, and we are collectively going to market with that mindset. We will be able to serve our clients with a deeper and broader portfolio of collaboration offerings and managed services."

"We are very pleased to join the SPS family," said ExtraTeam CEO Neil Setchell in a statement. "For the last 17 years, ExtraTeam has delivered world-class solutions to customers predominantly in the San Francisco Bay Area. SPS has a multinational reach and shares our vision for outstanding customer service. We are very excited about the possibilities this merger brings to our joint customer base."
